Four Tarkine Defenders have been arrested during the protest today in Tarkine forest BO092C, while 120 people rallied outside a luncheon address by the Premier in Hobart.
“The brave defenders of takayna / Tarkine have once again been arrested taking action for climate. Three attached themselves to bulldozers and a fourth person was arrested while filming the protest,” Bob Brown Foundation’s Jenny Weber said.
“There are still intact forests in this area, and elsewhere in takayna / Tarkine, that are threatened by logging. We are calling on Premier Gutwein to cease plans to log these forests and all native forests across Tasmania,” Jenny Weber said.
“We have sent a strong message to the Tasmanian Government, Sus Timber Tasmania and any customers who receive timber from takayna / Tarkine; you will face non-violent direct action and disruption because you are destroying globally significant rainforests and native forests in a climate emergency,” Jenny Weber said.
