We have a unique new opportunity for you to help with our takayna / Tarkine campaign.
Before the election, the Australian government approved clearing of rainforests, drilling and building 14km roads into ancient takayna/Tarkine. This decision was withdrawn just days before the election - and now, we have a brand new ALP Environment Minister who will be making this decision as one of their first tasks in their new job.
This is an opportunity to halt MMG that not did exist this time last week.
Meeting your Federal MP is an important next step after the public submissions period closes on MMG threat to destroy takayna.
The more meetings or phone calls and letters to the ALP, Independents and Greens MPs the better for our chance to have the Federal Environment Minister make a critical decision before June 10.
It is up to us, the citizens, to hold back the machines and prevent this destruction.

We have three different ways you can volunteer to engage with your MP.
If you have only five minutes, you can make a phonecall to your MP, asking them to write to the Environment Minister registering your concern over this project. We will provide you with a script early next week.
If you have half an hour, you can deliver a ‘welcome’ letter in to your MP’s office outlining your concerns over the MMG project, and asking them to register your concern to the Environment Minister. We will provide you with a letter in the coming days, as well as an A5 “quick facts” document on takayna / Tarkine and the MMG proposal.
If you have half a day to dedicate to this task, the single biggest thing you can do for us is to call your MP and request a meeting. We will provide you with a report you can drop off, as well as the A5 document listed above. We are here to help you through this process, and will make sure you are fully equipped to engage with your MP on this issue.
You can sign up for these activities below - we will follow up with you in the next two business days to give you some more information.
We will be holding a webinar this Wednesday to provide more information about this new campaign strategy. You'll hear from our Campaigns Manager, our Tarkine Campaigner, our National Organiser, as well as some of those who are currently on takayna's frontline.
We'll kick off at 6pm next Wednesday the 1st of June, 2022. You can sign up for this webinar now, before you sign up for one of our three MP Engagement actions below!
