We have been maintaining a frontline blockade in takayna / Tarkine’s Pieman River ancient forests since late 2020.

Bob Brown Foundation has re-occupied proposed logging coupe BO092C in the Pieman River area of takayna / Tarkine in defence of its rainforests and wildlife. In February 2020 we occupied this coupe and forced the retreat of the logging machines, but the loggers are still scheduled to return. We plan to stay in place to stop them again.

The tall ancient eucalyptus forests and rainforests of takayna / Tarkine are one of Earth’s great treasures, abundant with wildlife such as the Tasmanian Devil and Spotted-tailed Quoll. They are also rich and essential carbon storehouses in the face of the climate emergency.

You can help us prevent the destruction of this incredible forest by joining us on the frontline at the blockade.

If you can’t physically be there, you can show your support by making a tax-deductible donation.

We have to join forces, right across Australia, just as we did with the “NO DAMS” campaign, and put an end once and for all to the annihilation of irreplaceable habitat. How can we stand by and lose one more species? The orange-bellied parrot, for one, is teetering on the brink. We should be RESTORING our forests, not cutting them down! And it shouldn’t just be up to the handful of protesters who give up their lives to stand in the way of machinery. (I’m sure they’d rather be in their warm homes, comfortable, earning their wages, being with friends and family like you and me).

NOW is time to stop the logging of our ancient forests, I’m so grateful to Foundations such as yours who take action and give a dam! I was happy to hear about the outcome with the Swift parrots. I live in the Hunter Valley in an area where the green swift parrot migrates to in winter. Thank you to all involved!
