Join our takayna forest defenders

takayna / Tarkine is now under threat again. At multiple sites.

MMG, Venture Minerals and Forestry Tasmania plan on coming back to destroy these ancient rainforests and wild places this summer. We plan on being there to protect it.

MMG has been increasing its activity around the pieman River and its PR machine is in overdrive. All they need is a tick from the Minister for the Environment, and the machines will be back on Helilog Road, building roads and clearing sites for over 100 drill rig pads and test pits ahead of their massive proposed toxic tailings dam.

Venture Minerals are drilling now at Mt Lindsay shoring up a proposed tin mine in some of Tasmania’s most magnificent rainforests. We have been stalling and disrupting their works and plan to ramp these activities up over summer.

And Forestry Tasmania still has numerous coupes planned across takayna’s rainforests.

The tall ancient eucalyptus forests and rainforests of takayna are one of Earth’s great treasures, abundant with wildlife such as the Masked Owl, Wedge-tail Eagle and Spotted-tailed Quoll They are also rich and essential carbon storehouses in a climate emergency.

You can help us prevent the destruction of this incredible forest by joining us by signing up to our Red Alert List and committing to joining us on the frontline for direct action this summer.
