Host a screening of Forest Defenders in your community

On Sunday 8th November we premiered the new film, Forest Defenders - The Fight for Tasmania's native forests. An environmental documentary of the Bob Brown Foundation’s last 12 months of frontline direct action against Tasmania's voracious native forest logging industry.

We hope that our new film has inspired you to volunteer, support or take part in our coming summer of forest protests.

In 2021, we’re looking for people to host screenings of the film in their homes, at their local libraries, community halls and local pubs so we can share the story of our frontline activists far and wide.

It doesn’t matter how big or small – if you’re interested in helping us to spread the message, please register your interest below and our community campaigner will be in touch to help you make your event a reality.

At the Foundation we are committed to defending and protecting native forests with non-violent direct intervention

2020 has seen our most intense season of forest frontline action yet. We are the leaders in action for native forests in Tasmania and we share this effort with many many volunteer defenders. Hundreds of volunteers participated in the Sumac Ridge Blockade, the shut down of Ta Ann's veneer mill, held multi-day occupations and disruptions of logging operations in Que River, Pieman, Wentworth Hills and Mt Field areas.

Register below to host a community screening of Forest Defenders in your local community.

    hi folks at BBF

just wondering what shows you have organised for Melbourne?

We could host one at the FoE office in Collingwood if Melb isn’t over booked..

Could possibly also do Castlemaine, if thats not already covered.

Looking into possible venues here too. Great work everyone. Your film is upbeat and that is incredible given the magnitude of the potential loss. Thank you all.

Age restricts me from doing as much as I would like to do, but sharing events on FB and posting positive comments is what I love doing.

I’m going to look into the possibility of a screening in the local community hall. COVID restrictions could be a problem…

Thank you for defending the forests and making the film. I’ve just returned from kayaking and camping on the Gordon River, revisiting memories of my time at the Franklin River Blockade almost 40 years ago. It was sublime to be in the wild woods with the river as our pathway, knowing that it is safe from the industrial madness that threatened in times past. I would love to show the Takayna film at my yoga centre at SoHo Arts in South Hobart, or in the community hall if that’s a better venue.
