takayna Artivism: Virtual Festival

"‘All creativity comes from the book of Nature’ said Gaudi: so do all artists. We are part of the wild Earth’s own creativity. Yet the palette is being smashed.

– Bob Brown

Art in all its forms plays a fundamental role in encouraging people to recognise the intrinsic value of wilderness, and to want to protect nature in its own right. Art has played an integral part in changing the hearts and minds of people, from the Franklin River to the Galilee Basin, and indeed to takayna / Tarkine where hundreds of artists return yearly to our Tarkine in Motion field trip.

It is for this reason that we present our very first virtual arts festival, Artivism + takayna.

Tickets sales have now closed - however if you would like to purchase a festival ticket after 5pm on Friday 26/06/20, please email support@bobbrown.org.au and we will assist you in accessing the festival over the weekend.

We’ve got over 23 amazing speakers coming from all corners of the country to discuss their artistic practices and the wonderful work they do for protecting takayna and planet Earth – from National Geographic photographer Bill Hatcher, to pakana woman Theresa Sainty, to Black Finch Project coordinator Charlotte Watson, and many, many more.

On Sunday morning, we’ll be facilitating hands-on workshops, from landscape photography, to traditional Tasmanian aboriginal string-weaving practice, to nature journaling and writing.

On Friday night, to kick the event off, we have a free concert with an all-star line-up of musicians – join Adalita from Magic Dirt, Shane Howard from Goanna, Neil Murray from Warumpi Band and Jim Moginie from Midnight Oil as they play music and talk about what Action for Earth means to them.

To celebrate the launch of this fantastic, art-filled weekend of activism we are offering this Friday night concert for free to all Bob Brown Foundation supporters.
