Convoy Daily Bulletin 2

Melbourne Shines

Jasmine and I are travelling up the Hume Hwy to Albury-Wodonga on our Stop Adani Convoy. We just listened to Bob Brown on Triple J Hack program.

Wow, what a great success it was to have Melbourne come out to rally with us today. We counted over 1000 people and it ended on a great tune with Adalita from Magic Dirt. With a huge thanks to Alicia Crawford Bell, our Rally Organiser, for an impressive effort. Alicia pulled off seamless management of the event.  A huge thanks to our volunteers and convoy marshals. Wow, you guys helped make the event a huge success.  Big shout out to Sea Shepherd Melbourne who came to volunteer today - having other ENGOS happy to help us makes all the work worthwhile.

Uncle Dave Wandin from Wurundjeri Cultural Heritage Corporation gave us a very special Welcome to Country. Thank you to Paul Sinclair from Australian Conservation Foundation, Mark Tipping, President of the Tesla Owners Club Australia and Dr Mark Sandford. We had apologies from Jacynta Fuamatu who was ill and couldn’t make it. Thanks also to Frontline Action on Coal for your support and joining us with stalls from here on in the convoy. We can’t wait for you all to hear Charlie, from Formidable Vegetable who played at today’s rally. We are so excited he joined us today on the convoy from WA and will be huge support along the way. Look out for his decorated fire truck running on veggie oil. Brenna the artist is travelling with him and has already been illustrating for our great adventure.

Newcomers who have just registered to join the convoy – Welcome! We are growing every day and very excited to have you on our Stop Adani Convoy.  Please head to this link for general information you have missed.

We had more cars registered to come to the Melbourne departure point today who didn’t turn up. If this was you, it would be great if you could touch base via email with Jasmine.

Hobart – Melbourne folk have now met our amazing organiser Jasmine Wills. It is with her great planning and calm organising efforts that the last two convoy departures have been a great success.  If you have emailed her in the past days and haven’t heard back, please have some patience, we are going to get to these emails soon.

Please, everyone joining us in Albury tomorrow and Sydney on Saturday head to this link and get your instructions on entering the departure point venue.

If you are a convoy participant who already has an assigned role at the rally, please check in with Jasmine upon arrival on site. Look for Jasmine in a high vis vest.

If you notice that we don’t have enough people handing out the action postcards for Mr Bill Shorten at the rallies or raising funds with buckets, please do head over to the stall and offer your assistance with these tasks. This will maximise our impact with signed cards we want to pop in the post along the convoy route and the buckets will help fund this amazing campaign effort.

Jasmine and I really need to head off in the front of the convoy from Sydney and Coffs Harbour. It is our task to be making sure all the banners, props and merchandise gets to the next location. For these two spots, we would really appreciate finding someone willing to stay back until the stall kit is packed down and put into their car to get to the next destination. In Mullumbimby, these stall kits will need to be unpacked and taken to the BBF stall. Then we can put it back into our van after the rally.  Please contact me about this one. See me at one of the rallies or call me on 0427 366 929.

We have seen in the Courier Mail today that there are some local establishments who are saying they won’t serve us in Clermont. Well, I have been on the phone with businesses today and there are some very friendly establishments that have no problem with serving us. We are 12 hours away from launching with you the Clermont event details and getting your bookings. This has taken longer than we expected but it’s going to be worth the wait.  We will also let you know in that email about what establishments you will be welcome to have dinner at.

We are setting up an SMS system to communicate with our convoyers. Due to it being very expensive we will only be using this service in emergencies.

The rally in Canberra needs to have thousands of people so please remember to keep promoting it and suggesting to people to convoy to Canberra and join this important Vote Climate Rally.

If you have read to the bottom of this bulletin, we are very thankful. We have a prize for the tenth person who comes up to me in Albury tomorrow morning and says they read the bulletin. More prizes will be handed out along the way so keep reading these daily bulletins.
