Convoy Daily Bulletin 1

Hobart gives convoy a rousing send-off

We have hit the road and we are convoying to Devonport. After a great rally in Hobart, in the sparkling morning sun, 80 cars headed off on the Stop Adani Convoy.

The guest speakers this morning were inspirational. Theresa Sainty from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, Global Climate Action Leader Christine Milne, Tasmanian Farmer Anthony Houston and Bob Brown.

A special shout out to the Hobart Sea Shepherd Chapter who helped as convoy marshals and pulled off a seamless arrangement to get out of Hobart. We are very thankful for their volunteer efforts.

Well done to the Hobart convoyers. The police congratulated you and us on our organisation and were happy with how everything went.

A cautionary note for every departure point. After watching this morning’s departure, a reminder to please abide by road rules and don’t queue across intersections. It was great to see everyone following these protocols this morning which prevented traffic jams and unhappy road users. We weren’t too far behind schedule this morning.

An important note to remember – after each rally, head to your vehicles promptly and hop in your car. Jasmine and her team of convoy marshals will give you directions to start moving.

Our Rally Organisers, Alicia, Sophia, Ella, Zoe and Minna are working full steam ahead to pull off our upcoming rallies. In Albury, Coffs Harbour, Emu Park, Airlie Beach and Clermont, some great grassroots groups are pulling off events that will make this convoy an even better success.

You have missed a lot of important information if you have just joined the convoy. Most important are the instructions for arriving and departing from each convoy departure point or rally, which can be found here.
