Following the incredible success of Tarkine in Motion, where 70 artists spent 3 days in Tasmania's Tarkine wilderness, we are exhibiting some of the stunning images captured that weekend as part of Sydney's Head On Photo Festival.

The exhibition will be at the Salerno Gallery in Glebe, running from April 28 to May 24.

To ensure the smooth running of this exhibition, we need a Volunteer Coordinator and a team of volunteers to staff the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Position Vacant – Volunteer Coordinator

This is a volunteer position from 28 April to 24 May to manage volunteers who will staff the Salerno Gallery for our Tarkine in Motion photographic exhibition. Your role will be to liaise with willing volunteers and manage a roster for the staffing of the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. Your responsibilities will be to have one volunteer to cover each shift and conduct an induction for the volunteers.

An initial induction and ongoing support will provided by Jenny Weber, Bob Brown Foundation Campaign Manager, who is based in Hobart.

Volunteer gallery staff

Volunteers are needed to staff the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Responsibilities will include basic supervision of the exhibition, answering questions about the works, handling sales inquiries and distributing printed printed materials about the works and the Tarkine campaign to interested patrons.

The roster will be divided into 2 x 3.5 hour shifts per day, with one volunteer covering each shift.  As there are 52 shifts that need to be covered, ideally each volunteer will nominate a regular time that they could work (e.g. Wednesday morning) but this is flexible.

Exhibition hours are

10 am – 5:30 pm Tuesday to Friday

10 am – 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday

From Tuesday 28 April to Sunday 24 May.

If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact Jenny Weber.

Hello I know the exhibition is staffed by volunteers but we were so disappointed when we travelled from Canberra to see it and it was not open with no explanation on the door, no answer on the phone on Saturday and Sunday. This was its first weekend!…..
