Bob Brown Foundation volunteers and Campaign Manager Jenny Weber made sure that the Tasmanian Minister for the Environment, Matthew Groom, got the message loud and clear at a forum in Hobart on Thursday 12th Feb.
The Minister was part of a forum at the Wild Island Gallery in Hobart, discussing the Tasmanian Government's plans to remove 'wilderness' from the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, to allow exclusive tourist developments, aircraft landing sites other intrusive activities to encroach on these wild places.
Tasmania's world-renowned wilderness is already the number one reason tourists visit the island. Plans for private lodges and motorised transport into the wilderness will degrade an experience that is increasingly rare, and therefore valuable, in the world.
The discussion will be broadcast on ABC Radio National's Big Idea's program so listen out for it in the days ahead.
