Husshh…hearing takayna


An ecstatic meditation on ancient takayna/Tarkine wilderness in sound and words. Based on a one-week residency in the Tarkine over Easter as part of the Bob Brown project, Tarkine in Motion

The performance will consist of a mix of material developed as a response to the natural environment blended with improvisations.  BYO cushion or beanbag for ultimate comfort and relaxation. Chairs also provided.

Anne (M.A., DipEd, B.MUS) has worked as a soloist in collaboration with a diverse range of artists over more than 20 years of professional work. Anne is a Shakuhachi (bamboo flute) performer, improviser and composer who in recent years has been writing Eco-poetry, incorporating spoken word in her music and recitals. Anne is featured on many CDs and has performed in concerts and festivals in Australia, Europe, America and Japan.

Emily is a violinist based in Hobart. Having trained at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, she works within the classical genre (a casual member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra) as well as playing in bands of a variety of different folk styles including Irish, Balkan, Nordic and classical Indian. She is also a keen improviser, and has curated and/or performed improvised concerts all over Australia, as well as taking improvisation workshops for school children.

Andrea Breen  (PhD, BMus, Grad. Dip C.A.T. (MIECAT), B.A. (Hons), B.MUS (Hons), Cert. Gestalt Therapy) is an Australian multi media artist with an interest in collaboration, performance and improvisation. For the past twenty years she has been creating acoustic art while researching the generative and interactive processes of sound, word, image and movement improvisation.
